One real advantage of this workflow is that your edited images are all integrated automatically into your LR catalogue. to create a composite or change a sky or anything like that - then the resultant image will generally be saved next to the first image you took over from Lightroom. If you have edited several images in, say, CS6 from within Lightroom - e.g. Naturally, your original Raw file is unaltered.
